Veterans Honored at Center Point Historical Society's Annual Harvest Potluck
About 30 people came to the Center Point Historical Society annual Harvest Potluck, this year honoring WWII veterans and their families and held in partnership with the Center Point American Legion and Auxiliary.
Speaking at the informal program following the 5 p.m. supper were: Dr. Kenneth Andersen, a WWII vet; Ken Dinger, a Korean vet who had just been on an Honor Flight to Washington D.
Vinton Garden Club members tour Waterloo Arboretum
The Vinton Garden Club, member of National Garden Clubs, Inc., District II, and Central Region met at 8:15 am August 27th, 2014 to tour the Cedar Valley Arboretum in Waterloo, with Sharen Stueck as hostess. After our tour we held the meeting in the Welcome Center at the Arboretum then went for lunch at Lone Star Steak House. It turned out to be a nice day to take the tour.
Did you know this about the American Legion: Square Knot Award
The square Knot Award provides recognition to those members of The American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary and Sons of The American Legion who who are actively involved with the youth of their communities through the programs of the Boys Scouts of America. The award consists of a gold and purple square knot patch, which may be worn on the Scout uniform, a certificate and congratulatory letter from the National Commander of the American Legion.
